Biz4Teens is developing a methodology that allows teenagers to have a first experience at creating and running a business on their own. We believe that the business idea does not matter so much for this first experience. We focus our attention on the acquisition of core entrepreneurial skills and on developing the right mindset. This is what teenagers will get primarily when they join our programme!
In case they “fail” in their attempt of setting up and running their business, in fact they will still win. There is no downside for them. Indeed, we expect that the experience they will have acquired through the programme will serve them for their entire life. It will make them more employable. This experience will include learning how to find out what customers want, how to build a product or service, how to manage client and how to work in a team.
In the below article Alice Bentinck, founder of Entrepreneur First start-up incubator, explains why it makes sense to start a business young:
1. No barrier to entrepreneurship
2. No test to pass
3. No need for tons of money
She acknowledges that most likely teenagers will not hit success straight away, especially if they need time to find the right idea. She points that what matters really is to test, test, test until you find the good idea.
So, in order to succeed, teenagers need to be passionate and to show perseverance. Do you have those two traits? Why don’t you try?
